Eliminating phobias for a calmer life

Many people that do not have phobias dismiss them as something trivial; but usually they are more than a silly fear. With a phobia, a person will feel an extreme amount of anxiety and dread about a particular object, living being, place or scenario.

Many people that do not have phobias dismiss them as something trivial; but usually they are more than a silly fear. With a phobia, a person will feel an extreme amount of anxiety and dread about a particular object, living being, place or scenario.

In their minds people with a phobia will probably perceive the object of their phobia as posing inappropriate degrees of danger and respond accordingly. Regrettably, the phobic trigger is sometimes something quite harmless and ordinary, so this is why the reaction can be so intriguing to people without the phobia.

Simply thinking about the object of their fear is sufficient for a severe sufferer to feel anxious and panicky.

When someone creates avoidance in daily life specifically to avoid the thing they’re fearful of they would be classed as phobic. Obviously, some phobias are so obscure that they don’t influence life too much, but even so, they still may create avoidance behaviour – for instance not wanting to fly in an airplane.

There are two ‘main’ varieties of phobia. These are typically simple phobias and complex phobias. Simple phobias are normally isolated to one specific trigger, for example clowns, cats, balloons or flying. Complex phobias are where there is a complex range of deep-seated feelings leading to a person being overwhelmed by their phobia, examples of complex phobias are claustrophobia and social phobia.

Almost all phobias are fairly straight forward to eradicate. Most phobias originate from a traumatic event or incident that occurs in childhood that is surrounded by trauma and anxiousness, and then develops into a deep seated irrational fear.

Phobias take their root in the subconscious, which is why Hypnosis is such a worthwhile treatment. Hypnotherapy allows the phobia sufferer to generate changes at a subconscious level that enable them to remove or ignore the phobic trigger. For a great number of people hypnotherapy offers a long-tem treatment for a problem phobia that might have been affecting them for years.

If you have found your life is being influenced negatively by a phobia, it might be time for you to consider hypnotheraputic treatments so you can rid yourself of that fear, and start living the life you deserve to lead.

Keith Dorrington from Hypnotherapy Blackheath based in Blackheath, London explained why in their view hypnotheraputic solutions are extremely effective in treating phobias, “Using hypnotherapy to eliminate phobias is very effective as you are bypassing the conscious mind and making changes at the subcounscious level, which is where our beliefs are created.”
